Diabetes Prevention And Management

Close to 50% of adults in Monterey County have prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. Working with local partners, CHI is committed to improving the health of our community through prevention and management services.

With education and lifestyle changes, type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed, and some of its more serious complications avoided. CHI is Monterey County’s largest provider of the CDC-recognized National Diabetes Prevention Program, one of many free or low cost prevention services available to our community. Our dedicated team of healthcare and wellness professionals offer personalized programs that help adults and children understand the disease, learn about prevention and treatments, and make healthy lifestyle choices.

Diabetes Awareness Campaign

Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes affect 45% of Monterey County adults. In response, Community Health Innovations is taking a stand. Understanding the complexity of the disease, we needed a campaign to bring it to life. That’s how The Beast was born. This devious creature creatively shines a light on the dangers of the disease and makes us question our own risky behaviors so that we “don’t feed the diabetes.” In the end, by changing beliefs and behaviors about type 2 diabetes, we can build a healthier Monterey County by starving The Beast together.
